Peak Season Surcharges

Shipping lines have succeeded in introducing peak season surcharges (PSS) on imports for the first time. Owing to reduced capacity and close "Collaboration" of the shipping lines, NZ forwarders have been unable break the cartel and PSS have been introduced. Freight rates have also sky-rocketed as lines announce GRI's, mostly of which have euphemistically been called called "Rate restorations"

Australia have been paying these for the last 4 - 5 years but strong negotiating had us avoiding them until now.

Roll on the end of January when the lines once again start undercutting each other in order to get empty containers available here for the peak export season.
