Shipping lines have succeeded in
introducing peak season surcharges (PSS) on imports for the first time. Owing to
reduced capacity and close "Collaboration" of the shipping lines,
NZ forwarders have been unable break the cartel and PSS have been introduced.
Freight rates have also sky-rocketed as lines announce GRI's, mostly of which
have euphemistically
Australia have been paying these for the last 4 - 5 years but strong negotiating had us avoiding them until now.
Roll on the end of January when the lines once again start undercutting each other in order to get empty containers available here for the peak export season.
